Shabby Chic Summer Place Junk Journal and new You Tube Channel

Summer’s over but I’m not quite done with it yet.
Today I'm sharing my shabby chic Summer Place Junk Journal.
It’s stuffed with old things I used to hold dear:
a collage featuring an old ticket to a play I attended;
stained Battenburg doily;
Pansies I dried years ago and now have a home in my journal;
a letter from Grandma which included a dollar to buy ice cream on the way home from the neighborhood pool;
a post card from my favorite Pre-Raphaelite Artist;
and some music sheet to, “ A Summer Place” by Percy Faith.
When I was a young child, my mom would play this song when she set up to oil paint
or do some chores.
Then and today, it still resonates with me.
I feel all is right in the world and it still brings a tear to my eye.
I can't use my theme some to a Summer Place on YouTube, so I had to choose another classical piece of music to use in stead. Thanks for viewing with me.

All the chipboard, and linen fabric in the junk journal was treated with yummy, creamy Shimmerz Paints.

Let me tell you what I used.
Chipboard:
Acritonez-Three Sheets to the Wind
Inklingz – Pugnacious Purple, Precious Posey, and I Love you Onyxly
Shimmerz – Orchid-stra

Button:
Blingz- Gold Glimmer
Shimmer – Berry-licious

Coffee dyed paper and white linen fabric:   I combined the following two products to achieve a dusty lilac color.
Vibez- Princess
Shimmeringz-Heavy Metal

Some close ups.

Thanks for letting me share with you.

Gypsy Soul

Did you hear that gypsy Shimmerz Siren?
Yep, that was me, Joyce.
I’m going to show you how to apply some gypsy/bohemian
style to your art today using Shimmerz Paints.
I have been enthralled by Gypsy genre and bohemian art styles lately,
so I thought I’d take those  feelings and put them on paper.
I adored the movement in the girls dance!
And, I thought I could create such movement with some Shimmer Paint products.
And what’s a gypsy girl without her baubles and chains?
Visit Shimmerz Paints Blog and find out some of the details that created the movement in this 9 x 12 watercolor layout.

Shimmerz Products found in their store:
Spritz – Chance of Rain, 4 Leaf Clover, Plum Pudding
Vibez – Plum Tuckered Out, Blushing Bride
Shimmerz – Celery, Berry-licious, Orchid-stra, Key lime
Inkglingz- Brass Knuckles
Texturez – Tidy Widy

More Than Words November Main Challenge is Here!

Hello Friends!
It's a new month and More Than Words is hosting a fun Main Challenge.
Again, I found myself working in my Art Journal.

Recently, I have been craving a SPECIAL moment where I can just stop, breathe and think.

For the More Than Words November creative challenge I have chosen new stamps, inks, and watercolors products; blue watery background; and old elements.
My Quote reads:
“You know those things you always wanted to do, You should do them now.”

 Some Close ups:

Some Finnabair Crackle Paste and Rust Mica Powder gussied up this Blue Fern Studios Anchor Chipboard.

Another Gown to Share with You.

I'm adding another gown to the series.
Oh how I wish I was in my early 20's, I'd certainly want this hanging on my laundry line.
 Isn't her bodice a beauty?
Some Blue Fern Studios Chipboard added some of the crocheted lacy look to the art piece.
I used the Prima, Finnabair stamps to press on top of a light application
of molding paste to capture some of the distressed wall behind the gown.

Some close-ups for your viewing pleasure:

Thank you for stopping by and sharing my new gown creation.

Sketch Challenge at Creative Club Simple Pleasures

Welcome Friends!

The sketch challenge at Creative Club Simple Pleasures inspired me to create this work with this
beautiful Pinterest photograph of a gown.  As soon as I saw the sketch, I felt inspired to create with this particular photo that I have been holding on to for quite a while. Isn’t the bodice work gorgeous?  How could I not want to create with this kind of beauty ?  For those of you that have shared my journey on creating the Exquisite Gown Series, you know that I try to duplicate a feature of the gown with my arsenal of art products.  Here I have tried to duplicate some of the beaded work on the bodice and have placed it on the little postage stamp looking feature on the sketch, and on a little flower next to the photo on the left. Some Art Alchemy gesso, mica powder, and metallic yellow magic acrylic paint helped me to create just a little snip-it of that beaded masterpiece on the bodice. The paper I have used is Canson's Mixed Media 9 x 12 paper.

Thank you for letting me share with you this new gown to my Exquisite Gown collection.

Here are some close up's for you:

"Frozen" featuring Anna aka Aubree

I was inspired to create this Frozen inspired
layout featuring the adventurous and charming
Anna, aka
Aubree.

Here she is decorating her tree in her Anna dress.

I realized how long it was
since I last posted anything when
I opened my
light molding paste
and found it partially dry.

Some close ups:

Some yummy texture using a Stencil Girl Stencil

I've got another color palette in mind for my next Woman of Substance journal page and will be
starting it soon.  Hope to see you again when I finish that entry too.

Altered Book - Second Vintage Entry

Here's the second entry in my new altered book.
The chapter on the page explains how I feel about this new endeavor:
The Magnificent Adventure
and it truly is.
It's very addictive and satisfies my desires of painting, beading, creating and all things vintage.
One of the challenges in this project is trying to preserve the photographs, and I think I've been able to accomplish that by creating a journal box on the opposite side of the page of the photo.  I've left the journal box empty for now and will come back at a later time to fill it in. The box was shaded with pan pastels so that I can control where the media is placed.

My favorite element is the vintage fountain pen created with a Tim Holtz nib, cardstock, paper lace, gold thread and some Prima rhinestones.  The nib looks like porcelain by applying embossing ink, and peal embossing powder than set it with a heat gun.

Chipboard adds another element and interest too on these pages. The leafy branch was torn in various pieces and used throughout the two pages.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look, and if you've started your altered book, or have finished one, let me know where I can find you.  Thank you.

Lots of Orange

It's not a color I design with or have in my wardrobe, but lately I've been drawn to the color of orange.  Leslie's Dream paper from Blue Fern Studios Ombre Dream Collection called out my name when I opened the paper package, and I answered the call by creating this layout with the Blue Fern Studios August Sketch.  Interestingly, I found lots of little bits of embellies, buttons, tags, washi tape, and ribbon in this color in my treasure boxes, and those things finally found a home on this layout.

Close up of the layering stem chipboard by Blue Fern Studios.  I loved this little lacy piece, and wished there was a stamp in this exact design.  So, I did the next best thing and applied some bronze metallic paint on the reverse side of the chipboard and stamped it around my page.  Later, when I affixed the chippie with some glue, I wished I had though to soak the piece in water, split it, and use it for a stamp on future pieces.  Oh well....I know where to get another one.

Here's Michele Singh's August Sketch, designed exclusively for Blue Fern Studios.  I hope you can design with it too.

Thanks for stopping by...see you next time.

Seeing Stars....Blue Fern Studios July Sketch Challenge

This July Sketch  is so sweet and wonderfully works with the Ombre Dreams “Susan’s Dream” paper by Blue Fern Studios (“BFS”).  I worked with the beautiful pattern/design on the paper to help me build and enhance my layout .  I hadn’t realized that one particular bunch of the BFS stars were a compositional piece until my chipboard arrived in the mail. I was so delighted that it was one piece because it was so easy to work with on the sketch and just as easy to dress up too. Coat the star piece with white gesso, then coat with clear gesso (when working with light colors of paints and mists, the white gesso resists these types of colors and the clear gesso will hold on to them).  A few of the stars were treated with glue and fiber paper to build up the stars and add some dimension.
