I’ve had the Prima Printery Collection for quite sometime
now and was inspired to use it up with the June BAP Challenge from Prima. Of course, I was just smitten with Heidi’s
sketch also, and look forward to many more from her. The little vignettes on this collection of
papers seemed to help me work up the layout rather quickly too. Don’t you love
it when a collection of papers helps you compose a layout so efficiently? I used some glass bead gel, and acrylic
paints on a portion of a Prima mask and applied it to various parts of the
layout. When the paint and gel dried, I applied two different colored inks over
the beads to give them more texture and dimension. A Sizzix leaf die-cut was used and I also
turned it into a stencil and applied ink over it. I really like the effect of
that process. The little pearl stick
pin and flowers are from Prima also.
Picture is of my grandmother, and her first daughter taken in 1948.
Thanks for stopping by for a look.

Time 2 Create (Art Journal Page)
I was inspired to create my first art journal page by the
inspiration that came from C’est Magnifique’s
Inspiration Forum about Texture Paste. Coincidently, Balzar posted a tutorial on art
journaling. Well, when the universe
speaks to me like that, I have to act! I
bought at Canson 7x10 mix media tablet (specifically for acrylics, watercolor,
and pen and ink) months ago and just haven’t put any time aside to work on it
and didn’t feel any inspiration to
attempt anything either. Here’s my first
page !
The texture was created by water misting various areas of
the paper and applying a stamp randomly on the moist areas and the dry areas; I
stamped on artist tissue paper, tore it, and applied to the paper using a gel
medium. After the page was dry, I
applied gesso on a horizontal line and swirled it in various places and applied
a heat gun to it to create more bumps and texture. After that application dried, I applied a
light water mist and then applied some glimmer mist over it, on the dry
portions of the page, I applied more mist by applying the nozzle as close to
the page as possible and letting it drip down the page while holding the paper
up. Once the page dried thoroughly, I applied some gold rub-on paint over the
raised areas. That’s it…not too
difficult right?

Hope you are inspired to give it a try too, and if you do,
let me know so that I may drop by your blog for more inspiration to create the
second page.
Thanks for visiting and let me know you were here so that I
may stop by and see what you’ve been doing on your blog.
