Jailbirds (inspired by CSI's Case #19)

I love CSI.   CSI challenges push me to create a page, inspires me to be more creative and more importantly to journal my story.  I was never big on journaling (too lazy) but I can see the importance of them and they’ve now part of my creative process as well. I struggled with this sketch and even thought of throwing the page away because the empty spaces bothered my eye.  But, I had invested so much time on it and I do like certain aspects of it, so I soldiered on to complete it, but did not enter it in the challenge.  The bad sketch was a learning lesson for me.
Applications:
Bird: Dusty Attic bird chippie all dolled up with Gesso and crackle paint.  I combined some Moonshadow Mist and a gel medium together and then rubbed the combination into the crevices of the crackle to bring out the crackle effect.
Background technique:  Bits of book pages torn, treated with gel molding, and placed on top of white textured cardstock. After the torn book page bits dried, I placed a stencil on top of them and applied two difference colors mists/sprays to create the background.
 Journaling:
This is the first matchbook I’ve made on a page.  In the end, I think I made it too large but I see that they can be very useful, and I can imagine some more creative possibilities for them.  I think you’ll be seeing more of these from me. They’re like mini ATC’s but more purposeful as they are another place to store some journaling.  I was able to get several pages in this one.  Some photos might be fun to add too.
Thanks for stopping by.
